NoCo Rebuilding Network
The [not so] recent fires that blasted through the foothills west of Fort Collins has introduced us to a whole new group of friends and colleagues that we are proud to be a part of, NoCo Rebuilding Network [NCRN]. It is amazing to see what a diverse group of dedicated individuals can accomplish when they come together to help a community.
Currently NCRN is working hard to get information about the rebuilding process out to the community members that had been impacted by the High Park Fire and the destructive mud slides that followed throughout the summer. Each week we gather at The Grange in Bellvue to discuss the details of the process and get information to or answer questions from the community. It seems that those attending are getting the information they need. But, the question is if we are providing info fast enough or at the right time. Many are in different states of the rebuilding process. Clean up? Filing of insurance claims and disputes? Design? Construction?
Do you know someone who is rebuilding? If so, let them know there are a lot of people wanting to help, just go check out NoCo Rebuilding Network or come out to The Grange on a Wednesday night at 6:00pm.
WALK Loveland
As the newest Commissioner to join the Loveland Historic Preservation Commission, I was excited to see the fun and quirky "WALK Loveland" guide that's free! It's a handheld little guidebook that opens up to include an easy to read map and numbered sites to visit around town with details about each home and builiding's archtiectural and cultural heritage. Inside you'll find the Old Loveland Feed & Grain, the McCreery Home, The Lovelander Hotel and Loveland High School just to name a few. It folds right back up to fit into your pocket or bag and the graphics are a little bit retro, fun and pop from the page!
Looking for something to do this summer and learn more about our hometown? Stop by the City of Loveland, Historic Preservation website http://www.cityofloveland.org/index.aspx?page=1668 to find out where you can pick up one of these little beauties for yourself and have a great time!
